Muffins with Mom

PTO sponsored Muffins with Mom will be held on Tuesday, May 5 from 7:15am-8:00am.

Homework

There will be NO spelling this week. The only homework this week will be the reading log.

Open University

Open University will be held on Tuesdays for the rest of the school year. Our last day of Open University will be Tuesday, May 19th.

Spring Music Program

The spring music program for 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades has been postponed. When we know the new date, I will let you know.

ISTEP Update

We will begin our ISTEP test on Monday, April 27. We will test on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. We will be test for about two hours each day. On Monday and Tuesday, we will be taking the math portion of the test. On Wednesday and Thursday, we will be taking the Language Arts/Reading portion. If your child would like to bring in a healthy snack, they are more than welcome to bring one. 

Book Fair

Our class will be going to the book fair on Tuesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 23. The book fair will also be open during the carnival.

Just a reminder that Open University is Thursday, April 16 this week. It will still run until 3:30pm.

Cookie dough money is due by Friday, April 17.

Scholastic Book orders are due Friday, April 17.

Math Test

Our next math test will be on Wednesday, April 15. It will cover unit 9. We will be completing some review tomorrow. If you would like your child to practice more for the test, you can go to this link and complete the unit 9 review packet.

Plants

As we continue to learn about plants, we planted some seeds today. Students got to choose from sunflowers, marigolds, lettuce, summer squash, sweet basil, zinnias, or pumpkins. We will be charting their growth over the course of several weeks, then students will be bringing them home.

Just a reminder that the simple machines project is due next Wednesday, April 15. The original letter was sent home before spring break. If you need another copy of the letter, please let me know.

Plant scavenger hunt

The students had a little scavenger hunt in the classroom today to learn about plants.

Cookie Dough

Cookie dough will be available for pick-up tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7 after school until 5pm. If a student has 3 boxes or less, they can bring it home with them. If they have more, you will need to come to the school to pick it up.

I have meetings the next three Tuesdays. I will not be able to have open university on Tuesday April 7, 14, or 21. I will be having it on Thursday for the next three weeks. Those dates are April 9, 16, and 23. It will still be until 3:30.
